World eSport just came back from Lyon as we were invited by the AMOS Business School for their eSports event. It was a good opportunity for World eSport to meet and network with other industry experts and discuss the recent developments and growth of eSports.
AMOS eSport event: A fantastic location
With a prestigious location, the castle of St-Priest (Lyon), the event was truly inviting in all senses. A brilliant combination of modern and historical architecture. The perfect location to host an eSports event despite the challenge of bringing a high speed internet connection.
AMOS eSport event: The conference
Before the conference actually kicked off, we had the pleasure to watch a FIFA 17 match between Alexandre Hernandez and his challenger. The match ended 3-1 for Alexandre playing with ManU (with 2 penalties granted to Zlatan!). The main stage for the conference was upstairs, in a beautiful room of the castle. Soon the speakers arrived on stage. Amongst others were Olivier Morin (Canal eSport Club), Félix Münch (Head of eSports Masters Jeu Vidéo), Stéphan Euthine (Team LDLC) and Romain Tixier (former Melty group, now Founder & CEO of esport strategy).
During the dedicated 2 hours, the speakers explained their point of view about different topics related to eSports. Income taxes for pro gamers, regional eSports clubs, the PEGI rating for competitions and how eSports teams scout potential talents. It was also really interesting for us to hear from a representative of Olympique Lyonnais how they created an eSports team in China.
After the conference, we had the opportunity to have a glass of champagne (ok, it was more a Coke xD), canapés, ice-cream and networking time. We took our time to talk about World eSport to Olivier Morin, Felix Münch and Romain Tixier. We were delighted that they knew about (or are already on!) www.worldesport.com. Their constructive feedback will help us to improve our social network for Gamers & eSports even more!
Overall, it was a very well organised which we were pleased to attend. We thank AMOS-eSport for the invitation!
